What's the HALO Shower System?

Where the heck is the bathroom in a Storyteller Overland adventure van?!

Open the second cabinet on the driver’s side and you’ll find our HALO Shower System. This curtain and shower head can be rolled up and stored in the cabinet when it’s not in use, which means more livable space for you to enjoy when you’re not showering.

The shower has hot and cold water. It’s actually a lot of space once you’re inside, and the curtain is held closed with magnets.

When you’re done showering, let the curtain dry for about 10 minutes, and then roll it back up. You can then put the GrooveLounge in “Lounge Mode” to hide the shower pan.

We asked our community what questions they had about the shower system, and here’s what they asked:

Q: How long can you take a shower in there based on water supply?

A: Most van lifers take military-style showers to conserve water supply. One person in our community, Chris Cruz, said that you can have three quick back-to-back showers with the pressure going full blast. While we haven’t tested this ourselves, we can tell you that our freshwater tanks hold 21 gallons of water.

Q: Is this available in the Ford Transit model?

A: Yes! The HALO Shower System is available in every Storyteller Overland adventure van.

Q: Can I buy the HALO Shower System separately?

A: No, we don’t sell it separately. Only Storyteller Overland MODEs have a HALO shower.

Q: How long does it take for the curtain to dry?

A: In drier climates (such as the Southwest), we’ve had owners tell us it dries in 5-10 minutes. More humid environments will definitely take longer, but overall the material was chosen largely based on its very fast dry time. The Walsmiths say, “Ours always dries in 12 min or less! Leave it open, turn on the vent fan and voila!”

Q: Where does the water drain?

A: Lift up the GrooveLounge and you’ll find a shower pan (which also stores your portable toilet). The water drains here into a 24-gallon gray water tank.
