6 Epic Road Trips You Can Take in the Storyteller GXV EPIC Without Ever Stopping for Fuel

Storyteller Overland   JULY 7, 2026

The Storyteller GXV EPIC was built on a converted Kenworth chassis with a 6.7L Cummins Turbo Diesel engine and a 200-gallon fuel tank, which means up to 1,800 miles of range before you ever need to think about a fuel stop. To put that in perspective, that's enough range to cross entire regions of the country, watch the landscape change from prairie to desert to coastline and still roll into camp with fuel to spare.

We put that number to the test and mapped out six real routes you could actually drive in the EPIC without refueling once, including the one a lot of you will be driving this fall. Consider this your permission to stop planning your trip around gas stations and start planning it around the views.

1. Nashville, Tennessee to Grand Teton National Park, Wyoming — Roughly 1,550 Miles
Start in Music City and end up staring at the Tetons. This route takes you northwest through Kansas City and into the open plains before the landscape shifts dramatically at Badlands National Park in South Dakota. From there you'd wind through the Black Hills, past Mount Rushmore, and up through the Bighorn Mountains of Wyoming before dropping into Jackson Hole with the Tetons rising straight up out of the valley floor. It's a drive that goes from honky tonks to eroded rock formations to snowcapped peaks, and you'd still have roughly 250 miles of range left to explore Grand Teton and Yellowstone before your first fuel stop.

2. Chicago, Illinois to Santa Fe, New Mexico via Route 66 — Roughly 1,290 Miles
This one is for the history buffs and the road trip purists. Following the old Route 66 corridor, you'd pass through St. Louis and the Gateway Arch, roll through Oklahoma City, cross the Texas Panhandle past Cadillac Ranch and into the high desert of New Mexico. The EPIC's 44-inch tires and locking differentials mean you're just as capable pulling off for a dusty roadside, desert attraction as you are cruising the interstate. You'd arrive in Santa Fe with over 500 miles of range remaining, enough to detour through Albuquerque or explore the surrounding high desert before your first fill up.

3. San Diego, California to Seattle, Washington via the Pacific Coast — Roughly 1,300 Miles
Few drives in the country rival the coastline from Southern California to the Pacific Northwest. This route takes you up Highway 1 through Big Sur's cliffside curves, through San Francisco, into the towering redwoods of Northern California, along the wild Oregon coast and finally up into Washington. With the EPIC's full bathroom, kitchen and washer/dryer combo onboard, you could genuinely live out of this rig for the entire drive without needing a hookup, let alone a gas station. You'd pull into Seattle with roughly 500 miles of range left, plenty to explore the San Juan Islands or push on toward Mount Rainier.

4. Dawson Creek, British Columbia to Fairbanks, Alaska via the Alaska Highway — Roughly 1,490 Miles
This is the bucket list route for a reason. The Alaska Highway runs through some of the most remote territory in North America, and fuel stops along the way can be sparse and unpredictable. Starting at Mile 0 in Dawson Creek, you'd pass through the Yukon wilderness, the famous Sign Post Forest in Watson Lake, Whitehorse and the glaciers of Kluane National Park before crossing into Alaska and rolling toward Fairbanks. The EPIC's 200-gallon tank turns a route that would normally require careful fuel planning into a genuine non-issue, with roughly 300 miles of range left when you arrive.

5. Asheville, North Carolina to Bar Harbor, Maine via the Blue Ridge Parkway — Roughly 1,200 Miles
For a drive that trades desert and tundra for dense forest and coastal charm, this route takes you north along the Blue Ridge Parkway, through Shenandoah National Park and Skyline Drive, past Gettysburg and up through the White Mountains of New Hampshire before ending on the rocky coast of Acadia National Park in Maine. It's a drive full of overlooks, small mountain towns and fall foliage that rivals anywhere in the country. You'd arrive in Bar Harbor with around 600 miles of range still available, more than enough to explore the coastline before your first fuel stop.

6. The Waypoint, Iowa to Johnson Valley, California for STO Fest 2026 — Roughly 1,650 Miles
This one hits a little closer to home. The Midwest caravan for STO Fest 2026 kicks off at The Waypoint in Earlham, Iowa, and the drive out to Johnson Valley is a genuine cross-country expedition in its own right. You'd head west across Kansas, climb into the Colorado Rockies, drop into the red rock of Utah and cross the high desert of Arizona before rolling into the Mojave for four days of caravan camaraderie, off-road runs and campfire storytelling at Lasertown from October 15 through 18. Even after 1,650 miles of prairie, mountains and desert, you'd still have roughly 150 miles of range in reserve when you pull into camp, plenty to run out for supplies or explore Johnson Valley before the festival even starts.

The EPIC Takeaway
Every one of these routes proves the same point– the Storyteller GXV EPIC isn't just built to handle rough terrain and remote camping, it's built to keep you moving. An 1,800-mile range means fewer interruptions, more flexibility in your route planning and the freedom to chase the adventure instead of the nearest fuel station.
