We’re thrilled to offer you a vehicle boasting the same features that you have already come to know and love in our MODE 4×4 lineup, but with all the serviceability and accessibility the Ford brand is known for.
We’ve been dreaming of this van for quite a while now. If you’ve been around long enough, then no doubt you have seen our original Ford Transit MODE prototype out living its best life with some of our dear friends on Youtube at some point in recent years. We have always known and believed that our MODE concept would play well for our customers on the Ford Transit platform; but alas, until recently the 2wd drivetrain of the Transit presented some real challenges to Storyteller’s more adventure-oriented, off-road, off-grid audience. So we never put it into production.
Now fast forward to 2021, with Ford’s introduction of its highly capable AWD system as a factory option for the Transit, and with their addition of some pretty stellar creature comfort upgrades to the cockpit of the van, at last, our design & engineering team began rekindling our curiosity for what could be done on the Transit platform.
One of the things that we have heard consistently in recent years is that there exists a real desire for an alternate van platform that could provide plenty of pep and power, offer a meaningful range of usable towing capacity and light offroad capability, could be easily serviced at dealer points all across the county, and could do all of this with the convenience of a gas-burning engine. With all of those things in mind, time and time again we found people calling us, emailing us, or tracking us down in person at shows and expos around the country to ask “So when will you be bringing the MODE to the Ford Transit?”
So at long last, after years of concepts, contemplation, and discovery, we now have a satisfying answer to the question of “when”… and the answer is “The Time Is Now!” We are excited to be able to offer the world a brand new adventure van option that preserves everything that people have already come to know and love about the MODE vehicle line-up, but with the gas-powered convenience of the Ford 3.5L EcoBoost engine and the enhanced range of service point availability that the Ford Transit brand has become known for.
While Ford never designed the AWD Transit to serve as your vehicle of choice for rock crawling or hyper-aggressive offroading, the fact is that it is still a truly capable and agile travel companion that will get you all the way from your urban adventures to your next trailhead jam sessions in safety, comfort, and style without compromise. Whether it is leading you up to Tahoe for a weekend ski getaway or carrying you and your crew down a backcountry gravel road for a night of boondocking under the stars, the MODE LT on the AWD Transit platform will make you feel right at home.
